What is art? And does art need to stand apart from its creator and without explanations?

This experiment intentionally removes all elements of the traditional gatekeeping associated with art exhibitions, starting with the names of the people who made the works.

Name Not Required is neither a juried show nor a curated show since the works were not screened in any way. The only requirement for participation was the individual’s willingness to remain anonymous - no other selection criteria were used, no qualitative judgements made.

We ask you to tell us, and the creators, what draws your eye and mind. This is an opportunity for you, the viewer, to answer the question ‘what is art?’ without filters or preconceived ideas - to be an active and not a passive audience.
