MUSIC AND PERFORMANCE

Solo musicians and small ensembles working in any genre are invited to submit complete, developed programmes for a concert or recital presented by Channel B. We are not able to consider orchestras or other large ensembles.

We are interested in distinctive work from musicians who are not represented by an agent, manager or similar organisation. This is a paid opportunity, with the programme and its presentation developed in collaboration with Channel B.

Work Media: Music of any genre or discipline.

Work Length: We are preferably looking for a complete concert or recital programme rather than individual pieces, but shorter submissions will be considered for programmes with multiple artists. The length of proposals should depend on the work, venue and proposed format.

Musician Requirements:
1. You must not currently have professional representation.
2. The submitted work must form part of a serious, developed musical practice.
3. This opportunity is intended for solo musicians and small ensembles.

Entry Requirements:
1. A short introduction of no more than 500 words telling us about you, the programme you would like us to consider and how you imagine it being presented.
2. Recordings of two or three pieces from the proposed programme. Studio recordings are preferred and may be submitted as audio files, or as links to external platforms.
3. Please submit work that already exists and is ready to be performed, rather than an idea for work that has yet to be created. If a visual element forms an integral part of the performance, please include enough material for us to understand how it relates to the music.

Timeline: Performance dates will be agreed with selected musicians, taking account of the requirements of the programme, venue and everyone involved.

Selection Process: Submissions made through the Channel B website will be reviewed by the Channel B board. We may then contact musicians to discuss the work or request further information or recordings. If selected, you will work with Channel B to agree the venue, format, production requirements and performance arrangements.

Notification: We aim to respond by email within one month of receiving your submission.

Accepted Programmes: Musicians will be paid an agreed professional fee. Channel B will also cover agreed costs directly associated with presenting the concert or recital, which may include venue hire, necessary equipment or instrument hire, technical support, rehearsals, travel and production costs. The scale and costs of each programme will be discussed and agreed before it is confirmed.

Publicity: Selected programmes will be promoted through Channel B’s website, social media and mailing list, with additional publicity where appropriate.
